I am so thrilled to have this doe in our herd. She's a beautiful fawn with 15 1/4" ears, and decent body. She weighs 6lbs 12oz. Her fur is really nice as well. She got BOB at one show. Please excuse the bad body pic, she was not happy about posing at all and kept fighting me! She is nicer than she looks.

She is bred to Motley for a Jan 14th litter! :) If you are interested in a baby, please email me to get on the waiting list. I am adding 2 new Velveteens to our rabbitry at the end of the month. One chocolate tort doe (that I just blogged about) and a broken black jr buck. Both of them look like they will be really nice. I am also preparing to breed Scooter and Motley in early December. All of our rabbits are moving from the barn where they have been living, to our shed. Then hoping in the spring we will finally be able to move onto a place where I will have more space. That means each of my kids is only keeping 1-2 rabbits, and I need to buy another stack of cages.

The chickens and goats are still here for the time being. I will part with them if it comes down to it but at this point we may have through spring before they are homeless. At least I can put heated buckets out for them and not have to drive out to the barn 2x a day every day!

I will be at the MSRBA Triple show at MSU on the 27th of this month. I will have a few pet/breeding rabbits there that I will have to find homes for. There are 3 Mini Rex(tri buck, harlie doe, castor doe), and a Mini Lop buck (sable chin with full pedigree and 55+ legs on it). Possibly my friend may have some pet/breeding quality Hollands there as well.

Leander's Truffle

At long last this girl is going to be joining our herd. :D She is a chocolate Tort doe and I am so excited about her. We are still working as hard as we can to make this happen (and soon!), but now the place where we keep our 'farm' animals is going up for sale. We have no choice now but to find homes for many of our beloved pets.

We need to find a new place for our 3 goats, many of the rabbits, and our chickens. I have some friends that have offered to take some of them in, but if you are interested in giving a great home to anyone here, please let me know.

I am asking $275 for the 3 goats, and I will include any supplies, feed, and hay that I have (probably about 20 bales).

I am selling my trio of Japanese Harlequins for $60 (or if you just want a pair $45).

I have a few Silkie chickens I should find a place for as well. A gorgeous red partridge roo, and maybe 2 hens if I can manage to part with them, as well as 5 youngsters. Giving up 10 years of careful breeding these birds is the hardest part of all of this. Moonlite is 7 yrs old and is a granddaughter of my beloved Punky. Gibbles is a special little miracle. Dulce is a rare dominant white & gold that I have been breeding towards for over 7 years. It's just heart breaking. If I do have to part with them all I would like them to go to a home where when we do finally move, I can get them (or some of their offspring) back to restart my flock.

My Velveteens will not be leaving. I can squeeze them, and some of the kids' 4H rabbits in at home. I just need to get 1-2 more stacks of cages. I may have to give up my Flemish pair. Those will be some kick butt breeding rabbits. $150 for the pair. The buck is pedigreed with over 20 legs on his ped. The doe has been BOB or BOS both times she was shown.

Please pray that we can find the right place to move and that God would provide the funds that we need.

Quiggle's Echo

Echo is a REW Netherland Dwarf doe that has lived in our barn for the last year. We got this guy at the Oakland County 4H fair Auction. I had seen his pedigree prior and had him out on the table. He's a NICE rabbit! I paid a bit more than I had planned on but I think he is worth it. His pedigree is full of Legs. I am really excited to see how these two produce together. I did not think she had taken, and this was the second breeding. When I went to give her hay on Saturday, she started carrying it around in her mouth and I suspected something might be up. So we moved her to a larger cage, gave her a nest box, and the next morning there they were! Three cute little magpie babies! It looks like 1 black and 2 blues. Only one looks to be showable, with a 2 part frontal pattern (face and chest). The others have a solid face, and a sloppy spotted face. I am so thrilled, as I was worried that Asia was too old and overweight to get bred. I am hoping the next litter is bigger, and maybe has some better marked babies. 1 out of 3 is not bad though! And I am happy that she carries blue. :)

At 3 days old:
<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; So here she is! Caramel was purchased as a friend for Mocha when we lost our darling little doeling, Mitzy. I may sell her now that he has some other buddies. She was born in July 09 I believe and is from a CAE/CL free herd. Caramel is pretty friendly and does walk on a lead (though not as well as our boys). She has some roaning on her ears and 3 stripes across her nose. Very cute.
Oh and she loves to slide down the slide on her Little Tykes castle! lol

MNR Little Acres Sir Phineas

Here is my new junior buck! Goat that is. :) He's a Mini Nubian (2nd generation). Originally I had intended to get him as a wether, but the breeder and I were both so impressed with him that I decided to keep him intact. So it begins! I would like to breed Mini Nubians in the future anyway, so now we have a start. He's a light Chamois & white with blue eyes. Phin is the cutest little guy. I will get some better pictures soon that show him off. I hope to breed him to an outstanding full Nubian doe next year to bring back a bit more Nubian type and get the ears back. The 2 blacks are so hard to tell apart that I had to paint the toenails of one of them.

I took my scale to the barn so I can't weight them till I bring it back. Ears on all 3 are a hair longer than 1.5" each ear. Not doing full width measurements till they lop more. The hanging cage wire came undone and the cage fell. It threw 2 of the black babies out of the nest box, and they got cold. I found the chestnut dead in the nest box as well. It may be all the extra attention she got as a youngster, going through a mystery illness, I am not sure. Poor dear has now come down with an inner ear infection. She goes to the vet on Monday to get a culture done. Meanwhile she's leaning her head to the right a bit. Other than that she's doing very well, gaining her baby belly, and trying to dig her way to China through the bottom of her nest box. She's due next weekend with her litter by Barakat. I am really praying this time goes better for her. She lost her first litter (by Kaden), and then didn't take her second time (to Barakat). Third time is the charm right? I hope so!

Will keep everyone posted!

On another note, we purchased a darling little Mini Nubian wether from the breeder that we got Caramel, our Nigerian doeling. We will pick him up around April 1st. I really wanted a gold and white Mini Nubian, and my order was filled! :) Here is a picture from the breeder of him just born. Not the best cross but that is all we had.

Will get some better pics today. Those were when he was just a little baby.

Moon - Broken Sable Point Mini Rex buck

Moon is a beautiful little Mini Rex buck that we got at the same time as the Harlie doe (Olive, who didn't survive). He has had a hard road though, because for what ever reason, when we got him, he was very very thin. He's a fighter and gaining weight. Right now he's in the house being completely spoiled. He belongs to my 9 yr old daughter, and she is making sure he gets the best care. She asks me to weigh him if I have not done it already that day, just to be sure he's still gaining weight. When we got him home he was only 2lbs 5oz or so. Just a sack of bunny bones and fur.

We don't really have a doe that is the right color to breed him to, but a friend of ours at 4H rabbit club does, so when he's feeling better we will probably arrange a meeting.

*Update 3-18-10:
He's doing really well and gaining weight like a champ. Here is a picture of him all spoiled on his little quilt. He's up to 2lbs 13.9oz.

Update 3-22-10: He's doing great now and looking like a real bunny! After about 2 years of being rabbitless I decided I would look for a Japanese Harlequin marked rabbit as a pet. I found Poppy at Bought him for $5 at about 7 weeks old. I was told he was a Lionhead, which is a breed I had heard of but didn't have any experience with. He lived in my bedroom and was so smart. I just loved him. I got him a companion and so started the rabbitry we have now. I have since passed the Lionhead torch to my oldest daughter, but still have Poppy. He has nearly no mane most of the year, but sires some very nice babies for her.

I just realized that I don't have any current pictures of him, so I will try to get that fixed soon!

Sidney - Blue Magpie Harlequin buck

I got Asia and the black jap doe so I figured I might as well get a buck. He will always have a special place in my heart, and so will this breed. I love their personalities, and the thrill you get when you have a really nice marked baby pop up in a litter. It's one of those breeds that is largely luck, so everyone, even a novice, has an equal chance at breeding champions. I had been thinking the last several years about getting back into them. Nearly every breed I have been involved with since has had some harlequin marked bunnies in it to keep me going.

This past week I got a bred Japanese doe in a trade and then at the show I was walking around and found this lovely doe for FREE. Who am I to say no to that? She's very sweet, a little fat, but not terrible. So she will be getting a bit more exercise. Her previous owners didn't show or breed this breed and she eats a lot (apparent by her waistline), so they wanted her out of the barn.

So welcome Asia! I also got a really nice show quality Blue Magpie buck from a breeder at the show so that I have something to breed her to. He's a very densely colored clean marked buck so they should be a nice compliment to each other.

New Bunnies!

We did a huge trade on Friday and then added some more bunnies to our herd at the MSU show this weekend. This is the buck I kept from Kaden and Molly's litter. He's on the larger end of the spectrum for weights still, but his ears are the largest in the litter. Fur seems to be good so far, though it is hard to tell at this age. He's very laid back and loves to be cuddled. His coloring is very good. I am hoping he does not get as large as his parents (both are in the 8+lbs). Only time will tell. I am hoping he has a body like his father as well, but smaller. Originally I was going to let him go, but those ears were just so nice and he is looking more like his sire every day. He's a sweet guy too.

Update 12-31-10: Motley is a complete love. He is too large but he's so wonderful in every other way that I just don't care. He has 2 litters coming out of BA Sunkiss and Scooter, and I cannot wait to see them.

Mature Measurements-
Weight: 7lb 10oz
Ears: 16.5"

--Baby measurements and pics--

Ears at 10 weeks: 14.25"
Ears at 4 months: 15" Weight: 5lb 4oz

Update 3-28-10
Motley went to his first show yesterday. He did great, and took it all in stride. He got BOV and BOB but he was the only Velveteen there. No DQs though and the judge gave good remarks. He needs to fill out more (which will come with age) and his fur density could be a little better. Type, ears, color, and head were all very good.

Update 4-3-10
Motley again went BOV and BOB and was the only Velveteen Lop at the show. The judge was just in love with him though and said that he was the best Velveteen Lop she has ever seen. She wrote "Awesome Lop!" on his score card. Needless to say I am very proud of my little boy! Here he is with his 2 BOB rosettes!

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; His name will probably be Mocha.

Now I am looking for a really nice Mini Nubian doe or doeling. They are the sweetest of all poultry, and are a constant delight. The Showgirl variety, with their naked necks, reminds me of a Muppet character, and they make me laugh when ever I see them. You may notice that most of my birds are of the AOV (Any Other Variety) type. I love to tinker with genetics and create new colors. A few years ago I started working on Salmon, Blue Salmon, and Red Pyle. In doing so I inadvertently ended up with some other neat colors (*D'Leleche, and Wheaten/Blue Wheaten). I also breed Partridge, Blue Partridge, and Buff.
----------------------------------------------

Currently Available:

Pair of Buffs - 6 month old Cockerel and 3 yr old hen. Both are gorgeous birds and should produce really nice babies. $45

Mix & Match - You pick your pair (1 pullet, 1 cockerel)
Cockerels: (Only one of the Wheaten males is available, you get to pick. I am keeping the other. )
Splash Wheaten $15
Blue Wheaten $15
Dominant White $5

Pullets:
Wheaten $15
Wheaten Showgirl (gorgeous!!) $20

Chicks still needing heat:
Several $5 each
------------------------------------
These pictures are over a month old. She is a fawn Flemish Giant doe that we got as a little 3lb baby at the 4H fair this year. Now she weighs about 18lbs. You just cannot beat the Flemish personality though. As big as she is, she is such a baby doll. I took her to her first show on 5-8-10 and she got BOSV and BOS! Not bad for just weaning a litter a month prior! That's my girl! I am going to try to get her to a few more shows pretty soon and get a more rounded judging of her.

Update - Butter got BOB at the Oakland County Fair on 7-13-10 beating out some outstanding Flemish. Three are Caster and 3 are Red. All but one of the reds has harlequin markings though so they are available as pets for $10 each. I believe there are both bucks and does available still. The parents are nice rabbits and the babies have been handled nearly daily since birth. They are very friendly!

Velveteen Lops - Eeyore's Kasal T'qur "Kassy"

This little one has not made it to our barn yet, but she will soon hopefully. Just after I inquired about her she became ill and went off her feed. Thankfully she pulled through and we set up a date for us to meet up so I could get her. On the way there the breeder got a flat tire on her truck though, and since I had a tight time schedule that day I could not wait, so again we had to reschedule for a later date. Her name is Amharic for charcoal black.

Here is the picture I have of her. I will post pics and info when I have it. I can't wait to have them both home!

**update September 24th 2009** Kassy is such a beautiful girl! I cannot get over what an incredible body she has. I am so glad to have her! I hope she passes on her good qualities to future litters. Here are some new pictures.

** Sept 8 2010: We lost my dear Kassy today. She had been 'off' for the last several months and despite trying everything I knew, we just could not get weight back on her. Her sweet face and wonderful temperament will be missed. Despite being bred twice, only one of her babies made it to adulthood. Her daughter is owned by a fellow Velveteen breeder, so maybe I can get a grand baby in the future.

SR's Kaden

Reference Only

SR's Kaden. He is a broken fox (tort otter). I was hoping he would have been a broken orange, as I prefer to breed orange to tri. So I decided to get him a new girlfriend because he is such a lovely rabbit, and find a different mate for Molly as well. That will give me a nice herd of 4 to start with. This first picture was from when he was only around 8 weeks I believe. His ears are 16.25" x 4" now.

** Update December 18th 2009 - Kaden is amazing. He has the best personality and a great body and wonderful ears. Here are some pictures from late September. Ears 16.25" and weight is 8.5lbs . I wish I could shrink him down! He's gorgeous in every way. He is an aggressive breeder, and proven. I am selling him due to lack of space and having 2 litters by him on the way. I had a pair of Velveteens wayyyy back when the breed was just getting going but just could not get litters out of them and gave up after a while. I have always wanted to get them again and now with them possibly passing their 3rd convention showing this year (I hope!) I figured it was a great time to get a few. A breeder near me was getting out of them and I snapped this gorgeous Blue Tri-color JR doe up ina heartbeat. Still have not named her. Her dad is Eeyore's Silver Fox and her mom is Eeyore's Aya. She also carries the Eeyore's prefix. I picked her up tonight and she is just a doll. We got her all set up in her roomy solid floor cage at the barn. Spoiled already.

(photo by Courtney of Eeyore's Ears)

I pick up her future boyfriend tomorrow!

Welcome!

In light of the fact that there are not enough hours in the day, I have decided to create a blog as our temporary online home. We have had a crazy assortment of creatures in the past, but right now we have the following menagerie: Fish (Guppies, Platies, Corys, and Bettas), Silkie Chickens, rabbits (Lionheads, Mini Rex, Netherland Dwarfs, and Velveteen Lops), cats, turtles, and 2 birds. The fish have their own blog so I won't post them here. Mostly it will be the bunnies, with occasional appearances of the rest of the zoo. Enjoy!

We are located in Oakland County Michigan and usually have some assorted creatures for sale if you are looking for a new pet.
